Wings Foster Teen Program:
Timing, duration, frequency of program: Once a month throughout the year
Partnerships: Aviva Children’s Services
Clients: Number of children/families served your last fiscal year: 8 per month beginning in March 2021
Age range of clients served: teenagers
Volunteers: How many volunteers participate in this program (planning and working): 8
What roles do the volunteers have in this program: Communicate with Aviva, cut out kits (fabric, lining & pockets and cording), sew kits into drawstring bags, support personal hygiene collection drives at area Churches, deliver drawstring bags filled with personal hygiene items and a daily devotional entitled “Jesus Calling” by Sarah Young.
Program Purpose: To provide the youth of Tucson a drawstring bag and its contents remind them that God loves them and there are people who care about them.
To “give them a fish” but also to “teach them to fish”. The drawstring bags will include a daily devotional that would help them feel better about themselves. Agencies such as Aviva Child Services have welcomed such a devotional.
To introduce Christ Child Society of Tucson to others in the community that could use our help or may want to join our mission.
Wings is a program to help foster teens who have been displaced from their homes. We support Aviva Children’s Services, an Easter Seals organization. Aviva tell us that teens are often an overlooked group. When many are removed from their homes with Child Protective Services, they have nothing. The items you donate, whether it is body wash, socks, or toothpaste, will be put in a drawstring bag that our members hand sew. The bags contain a pocket for a special book, called “Jesus Calling” by Sarah Young. Thank you so very much in advance for considering donating to this collection.
