New Project (12)

The Christ Child Society of Tucson has just finished participating in this year’s National Day of Service. We conducted a food drive during the week of October 25th - 31st for Pio Decimo. Our Chapter’s Goal was to “find a need and fill it” as our founder, Mary Virginia Merrick, shared with us. One of our member’s communities, Highland’s at Dove Mountain, allowed us to collect food from their residents. We are very thankful to the Management and Staff at the Highlands for allowing this event to take place. We practiced social distancing.

The residents put their food at the base of their driveways. Based on the Highlands residents’ generosity, in addition to their cash donations, we were able to fill over $2,800 worth of with food for poor families. Over 800 grocery items were collected by the American Heritage Girls and their leaders.
Because of their energy, enthusiasm and efforts, the food was collected, sorted, and packaged in over 100 grocery bags.

The Christ Child Society of Tucson got an opportunity to tell our story and share Pio Decimo’s needs. Angela Schneider said “it was wonderful to see

Angela Schneider said “it was wonderful to see the neighbors, the American Heritage Girls, and the Christ Child members come together for the good of the community. Pio Decimo was very pleased to that we could help them. They almost did not have room for all the grocery bags!
The Pio Decimo director, Marcia Zerler said, “What a blessing for us to be the recipient of the CCST Food Drive and the fruits of the American Heritage Girls’ labor.
God is so good. Thank you!
